Temple of Fire - part 3, Playground of The Devil

A return to our underground playground, Jdub and Urban Spaceman meet for the first time and hit it off, so time for some teamwork.

Multiple wire wool spinning, the first use of my fire palms and the extra hands came in useful for lighting the tea lights.

So first off a little video of the environment we are working in, take note of the echo - so volume up !!

Never thought of doing a video before, pretty much a last minute thing as we prepared to leave, so next visit I will put some of the wool spinning up.

Oh and for a laugh I donned a mask and threw on an old jacket, so hope you like, as I think these pictures are getting better week on week.

Jdub had an idea for one of his "arty" shots (not sure if it worked to be honest)
 Camera, fire, action !

So all thats left to say is... welcome to the Temple of Fire, the Devil makes work for idle hands !!!

The Devil makes time for idle hands

Yep, thats me with my hands on fire, Urban Spaceman set fire to me and ran off to do the wire wool spinning whilst Jdub fired off the cameras, so remember kids don't try this at home.

- I picked up the fire palms from Firetoys

Anyway thats it for this episode, more to follow.....

The Rainbow Factory, Derbyshire

Another from 2011, August, visited with the Urban Spaceman.

First off thanks to Judderman for pushing me in this direction, this site did not disappoint.

Park up and a few steps of a walk you find the wonder that is ********, this pigmentation factory closed in 2006, perhaps due to the poor marketing in the Derbyshire area ?

 not edited, spotted in Glossop

First off we have a row of cottages, doors open, some kicked in, but all windows put thru

Amazingly post was still being delivered, with TV licence chasers and this weeks electorial role forms delivered via the open windows (the postman must love this place, given that its in the middle of nowhere).

The site had been visited the usual rapscallions and scumbags, the houses had been stripped of all the metal, but the main mill was wide open, very well intact and a sight for sore eyes after some of the recent places we had visited on our travels.

Its at this point I must warn any intrepid explorer that I have read this place is haunted, but they would say that - the fact is this place is a lonely silent place but the doors in the factory like to bang, the trees like to play tunes on the roof.

These doors we kept shutting only for them to swing open and bang loudly

Now, casual reader, these wellies (wellington boots) signify the true meaning of Urbex. I will explain.

As an true urbexer you don't vandalise places, you don't thieve and in this case these wellies have been in this room for years. If you ever see photos of this factory you will always get the wellie shot, they move around the room alot but you always get the wellie shot.

Sadly the place has gone downhill and a few months later I got the following message

"Love your treatment of these photos! My friend and myself went a few days before Christmas and it's so sad how the site has deteriorated in those few short months. All the houses are boarded up and notices of prosecution are all around. Mind you, it was chucking it down with rain as well which didn't help!"

SFX Weekender 2012 - Wales

Normal transmission will be resumed shortly !!!!!

I know, I know, a total curve ball on my blog, and your possibly not looking for this (scroll down)

But I never win anything and I won ! I won some tickets to the SFX Weekender 2012, oh hang on you don't know what this is.

Well its a convention, a Sci-Fi convention, a geek-fest for the readers of SFX Magazine, this year held at Pontins Prestatyn, North Wales.

The bad news, its January and cold, a train detrailment closed a lot of the rail network down with some guests not being able to travel up from London, oh and I had to leave early chased up the motorway by a snow storm.

So here we go, a different side of my photography.

First off I arrive to park the car and I'm passed by some astronauts on a buggy.
