Huncoat Powerstation - Wire Wool - Sept 2013

Previously we have done a bit of wire wool spinning underground, previously we have photographed the classic derp pit that is Huncoat Powerstation, time to mix it up a bit with an evening meet in the wilds of Lancashire.

Huncoat Powerstation

The Autumn rolling in with the dark nights to become a plenty my fellow fire starters gathered, ZerO81, Jdub, Cloakedup and Nickynackynoo.

It had been a long time since previous wool spinning endeavours and with practice makes perfect it was a the ideal place with nothing left to burn down.

Sparks a plenty.

Somethings worked, some failed. all trial and error, but with a team effort it came together with some shots better than others.

Special thanks to Nickynackynoo for pushing the idea, I'd been wanting to do this for years at Huncoat and although it took a few weeks to pull together we got there in the end.

PS, I still stand by wire wool spinning being the best fun you can have with a camera.

Temple of Fire - part 3, Playground of The Devil

A return to our underground playground, Jdub and Urban Spaceman meet for the first time and hit it off, so time for some teamwork.

Multiple wire wool spinning, the first use of my fire palms and the extra hands came in useful for lighting the tea lights.

So first off a little video of the environment we are working in, take note of the echo - so volume up !!

Never thought of doing a video before, pretty much a last minute thing as we prepared to leave, so next visit I will put some of the wool spinning up.

Oh and for a laugh I donned a mask and threw on an old jacket, so hope you like, as I think these pictures are getting better week on week.

Jdub had an idea for one of his "arty" shots (not sure if it worked to be honest)
 Camera, fire, action !

So all thats left to say is... welcome to the Temple of Fire, the Devil makes work for idle hands !!!

The Devil makes time for idle hands

Yep, thats me with my hands on fire, Urban Spaceman set fire to me and ran off to do the wire wool spinning whilst Jdub fired off the cameras, so remember kids don't try this at home.

- I picked up the fire palms from Firetoys

Anyway thats it for this episode, more to follow.....

Temple of Fire ! ! - Part 2

March 2012, a return to the Temple for some more wool spinning.

With Urban Spaceman stuck in Scotland I was joined by Jdub, who seemed little unprepared for the muddy walk to the pit and a little gobsmacked at the scale and echo of the place.

Practice makes perfect and Jdub's more methodical approach to photography was refreshing in comparison to our "bull in a china shop" approach.

This time we lit the place with a lot more tea lights, as we didn't have the benefit of Urban Spacemans striplights, we moved deeper into the Temple using the pillars as a bounce point for the sparks.

Now this was a new one on me, EL wire, long exposure and Jdub dancing around like a demented gnome with a dangly bit of wire.

Another visit is on the cards in the next few weeks, having found a different position in the temple for our sparks to bounce off.

Temple of Fire ! (Womble Project revisit)

A return visit to the Lost Temple of Latis

Visited today with Urban Spaceman for a bit of wire wool spinning as you can't burn down a bunker and its very, very dark.

We lit with t-light candles and a few strip lights for romantic ambiance and the fact that you couldn't see past the end of your nose.

Problems, my wool just wouldn't burn, same wool as last week used out in the open but it wouldn't light.

Oh, we had some some smokebombs as well, some plumbing bombs and a few from a paintball company.
