Taxal Lodge, Whaley Bridge - April 2016

Built in 1904, this country residence was used as a special school from the late 1950s until 2005 and now sits rotting.

Visited with Urban Spaceman, once again we had turned up a few years late and found a scene of severe derpington.

Now I did say rotting, didn't I.

Abandoned Farmhouse, Alderley Edge, Cheshire - April 2016

Arrrr, Alderley Edge. Home to football players, football managers, soap stars and overpaid accountants.

Sitting on the side of the A34 bypass is this little farmhouse abandoned since a compulsory purchase in around 2011. On a road where houses cost in excess of £2,000,000. we find this little place.

All in all, a little bit shit - one found by Urban Spaceman, but as they say nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Iranian Consulate, Bowdon, Cheshire - April 2016

It had been on my list of places to visit for years. Sadly we visited a few years to late too late.

Urban Spaceman and myself  pottered into the rather posh village of Bowdon and found a building simply hanging on for dear life. The only reason it still stands is the very fact as it is classed as Iranian soil, saying that all the outbuildings are now demolished and only the main building remains - just.

Derp, 2/10 - a real blot on the landscape on Millionaire Row.

Rylands Mill, Wigan - April 2016

I was rather taken aback at the entry to this place, the gates wide open was a little different. However the mill itself overlooks the Mesnes Park in Wigan and has nothing to stop even the smallest kids from wandering in from the park a killing themselves - NOTHING, it even has steps up from the park into the place.

And they did, well wander in not kill themselves (yet), Tbolt persuaded two not to climb the 164 ft up the ladder inside the mill chimney - one of the young lads was about 70 ft up the chimney at the time.

Rylands Mill has gone under a number of names over the year being Pagefield Mill and Gildow Works and now sits in development hell.

Built in 1866, this Grade II listed building operated as one of Lancashire's many cotton mills and in 1985 the building was taken over by Wigan Technical College, closing in 2007.

A recent fire, leaves the upper floor open to the elements, but on a day like we had its rather photogenic.

I rather like this place, but access is far, far too easy and a child is going to get killed or a best seriously injured.

Ringo's Shed - April 2016

After the band split, Ringo headed off in search of seclusion and hid from fans of his ex band in this remote shed.

However not being the best drummer in England nor the best looking, other band opening where somewhat lacking and he bided time busking in between reading his collection of Thomas the Tank Engine books and his study of Egyptian alchemy.

Linda and Paul popped round one night with a nut cutlet and things got rather out of hand after a few cheeky ciders and a impromptu 3 hours jamming session purely consisting of Frog Chorus and Jet.

Total cock and bollocks 10/10 - yeah baby yeah !!

Thoresby Colliery - April 2016

Thoresby Colliery was a coal mine in north Nottinghamshire. The mine opened in 1925, and closed in  July 2015, then Nottinghamshire's last coal mine.

Visited with Tbolt and Snapt, this place is a quagmire of mud and coal slop and additionally there be dragons !

Now my intrepid explorer, here comes a word of warning, my fellow explorer Mr Snapt nearly came to a sticky end when he was sucked off in a bog or rather when he lost his shoes to the thick slop that surrounds many of the buildings. I was expecting Tbolt to fall to the same fate but somehow he does seem to walk on water at times. To give Mr Snapt his due, any lesser man would have called it a day and shuffled off home. Mr Snapt battled on in the face of adversity.

All in all not a bad little mooch which would normally get possibly 6/10, however an extra point must be given for the notice of the year.
