Arvin Exhausts, Redisher Works, Holcombe - March 2017

Originally a bleach works for the then local cotton industry, in later life an exhaust factory.

The building sits in development hell, awaiting demolition for the possible building of proposed apartments.

Visited with Tbolt and Pork Pig, routine walk in followed by a rather large expanse of mud and water on the ground floor as the culvert at the back of the factory floods the place. Strangely the lower level is a lot dryer and thankfully not ankle deep in mud.

I rather like this place and I'm going to give it a no doubt controversial 5/10

Vue Cinema, Pilsworth - December 2014

This 12 screen multiplex cinema opened in 1989 as a Warner Bros, re-branded as Vue in 2004, finally closing July 2010.

In March 1996 the cinema hosted the UK premiere of the John Travolta/ Christian Slater blockbuster Broken Arrow - sadly neither Travolta or Slater turned up, but thankfully John Leslie and Sonya did.

So as 2014 drew to a close up popped this little gem, we had been very patiently waiting, watching the grass and moss grow around the place for years.
 

 - and then photos appeared....

Weeks passed, with one thing and another we didn't get there, by the time we did the metal fairies and local vandals had trashed the place.

This is what we found, myself, Jdub, Urban Spaceman and a rather pleasant new chap on the scene, Shucky. With tales of roaming metal fairies safety in numbers was order of the day.



First off its a cinema, it is dark, tripod and light painting are the themes of the day, oh to repeat it is dark, very dark and I would not recommend a solo, you wouldn't want to meet anyone dodgy here.











A few of the auditoriums had been stripped bare, seats and all, thankfully not all.









 



Alas the show was over, time to leave, it had been kicking off down at the Pick n Mix.





Jolly good fun after an extended break from mooching, also interesting to note that at its time of closure in 2010 it was turning over £71,000 a week in nacho, popcorn and hotdogs sales......

Lascar Works, Bury - Demolition July 2013

Back in August 2012, myself and Jdub visited this under photographed derp of a building, Lascar Works of Bury.



This place had been somewhat under the radar on the Urbex scene for many years and had some wonderful street art.



Well I have to report that whilst overhead Bury, the place is currently being demolished - another hidden gem bites the dust.

 

The End of Peel Mills, Bury

The end is near, the end of another dark satanic mill, sometimes you get to an explore just a little to late....







 

Lascar Works, Bury

A little mooch on my doorstep, having gone for a look at Peel Mill we took a little mooch at this long forgotten dead factory.

Having closed around 2003, this place has been stripped, torched and is now used as a drugs den and graffiti house.

Jdub and myself parked up and entered only to be followed by a couple of low lives, but they thankfully kept themselves to themselves so we bimbled on, should add the offices (or what was) are littered with discarded syringes.
