Bolton from the air, again - June 2015

A last minute diversion minutes before preparing to land at Barton gives me rather fittingly photos of my home town, on what was my final trip out.

I've pottered over Bolton many times, hit the search button if you fancy a gander.

Anyway on with the final bunch with a shot of Bolton Parish Church and a curving view of Bradshawgate, Bolton



The local council flog postcards of this next view or something very similar and as a kid at school we had to do a project on Bolton - mine from memory consisted mostly of postcards of Bolton Town Hall and Le Mans Crescent.



Interesting view this one, I suspect most people don't realise the Bolton Town Hall contains a internal court yard.





Bolton Market Place with its half built crane for the construction of the new cinema in the town centre - which is strange as I know of a least 4 in the town centre that got demolished, two relatively recently. Sadly Bolton Council is run by.......





Anyway they seemed to be doing a bit of a returf down the road at the Reebok, sorry Macron Stadium, I still can't get my head round the change of name. Anyway lets hope Bolton Wanderers have a better season than the last few shockers.



The massive Horwich Loco Works, soon to be demolished.....



So I'm going to finish with a shot of Rivington Pike, a bit deceiving this picture - as all would know that have walked up it.

Aerial tilt-shift photography - Part 3

Another set from my ever growing collection of aerial photographs of the British Isles.

First off a shot of the Humber Bridge, taken to be honest in very poor weather - but at least a break in the days rain.



Deal Castle, taken on the same day as the Humber Bridge, the weather hadn't caught up with us at this point in the trip.

These last few I don't have a clue, the next camera I buy is going to have to have GPS built in - all these pics being taken on a round Britain trip lasting over 23 hours of flying time in shocking weather - you start to loose track after a while.

Stevenson Square, Manchester - June 2012

Feet back on the ground for a few weeks, the plan was a trip to Whittingham Asylum but Urban Spaceman was grounded again - this time Mrs Spaceman had him decorating in his pink handcuffs.

Being that asylums are lonely places on your own, a trip into Manchester seemed like a jolly good idea.

Off to see the ever changing Outhouse Project in Stevenson Square.

Wilkinsons of Elland - Blackley Brickworks

September 2011

You can see this place as you drive down the M62 motorway.

On my journey up to Halifax the weekend before I spotted this place as I pulled off the motorway, a brief meet with the Judderman the week before and I had this one on my list, after a mooch ont'tinernet I soon found this is an old favorite of many an explorer and is totally buggered.

The challenge was to make this one look bloody good and spark Urban Spaceman into stop messing about with his motorbike in his shed.

Blackley Fire Clay Works, Wilkinson's Brickworks, Blackley. The chimney at the works was built in 1894 and is a local landmark, the factory itself dates back to about 1883, the factory closed in 1985.

I set off a little concerned after reading a recent newspaper article stating the owners had been reviewing security at the site, it was obviously not on any kind of priority list, given the state of the place and the lack of security and on site parking.


So welcome to Yorkshire !!!
