Bailey Mill, Lancashire

We have good weather !! and with reading about a mill that the owners had requested parents keep their kids out of - we couldn't resist.

Urban Spaceman and I jumped in the car with very little knowledge of this place, we couldn't believe this one hadn't been on our radar - turns out its been empty that long most explorers had been, gone and simply forgot about the place.

Having closed around 1996, this former textile mill has become a blight for the locals and its a shame as this place a crying out to be redeveloped.

The graffiti was below par, but this was the sticks and I'm told the locals have webbed fingers - as if ??







 

 

After a wander around the various outbuildings, the entry into the place was a well worn path made by the local kids and not the photo below.

 

Once in and thru the darkness into the main building the place stripped did hold a number of gems left over from its busy previous life.

 



This ledger had been left out by previous explorers for a photo opportunity - dated 1924 !



 

 

 

 

 

 











All in all a very nice little mooch, but after getting home and trawling the internet, it would seem we turned up about 4 years to late.

Hi folks, more of the same - these seem to be popular and so lets indulge.


The last lot featured in B3ta's newsletter, so someone must like them....

Duke of Lancaster - return to the ghost ship, by air

After falling in love with this "dumped" ship after my visit last year I vowed to return in the plane and finish the job.

I was also conscious things may be developing as a group of video game collectors had traveled across from Europe after purchasing the now valuable collection of 80's video games that had languished in the ship for donkeys years.





We did a few circles to get these and yes, down below the little security man came out to have a look what was making all the din above.














A case of job done for me or was it ? We went back !!!

New Dock Fish Curers, Fleetwood, Fleetwood

A quick trip to the seaside, a very quick diversion to do a bit of urbex.....

A closed factory, totally trashed with wonderful fly tipping including used tyres and loads of very poor graffiti - up side the stairs and corridors had a spooky character.

This report was originally called Albatross and Tusk, Fleetwood - but I changed it to New Dock, however it would seem the internet has adopted this fake name of it being known as Albatross and Tusk as fact.

Someone just didn't get the joke.

When I posted my tongue in cheek report on Ukurbex with a fake hint of history on the place I didn't expect anyone to take it remotely seriously, however

 The only thing I found of interest was someone said it had a connection with a lost experimental album by Fleetwood Mac; I very much doubt this as the only time this is quoted is in that 1 report. Mick Fleetwood was born in Redruth, Cornwall and Peter Green was born in Bethnal Green, London. The bands name came from Peter Green combining the surnames of two of his former bandmates (Fleetwood, McVie) John McVie came from Ealing, which is also London. (I did try and find a link)

Which is a little sad, I wonder if that's how history was written ?
